1 GROW Model — Complete Coaching Framework
GROW Model Coaching Conversation Guide
Framework12 Pages
The GROW model (Goal, Reality, Options, Will) is the world's most widely used coaching framework. This guide provides a complete conversation structure with scripts, questions, and common pitfalls.
GGOAL — "What do you want?"
Establish what the coachee wants to achieve. Be specific, measurable, and time-bound. Distinguish between outcome goals and performance goals.
RREALITY — "Where are you now?"
Explore current situation without judgment. What's happening? What have they tried? What's working? What's not?
OOPTIONS — "What could you do?"
Generate multiple possibilities. Brainstorm without evaluating. Then evaluate the best options. "What else?" is the most powerful question here.
WWILL — "What will you do?"
Commit to specific actions. Rate commitment 1-10. If below 8, explore barriers. Set deadlines and accountability.
Power Questions for Each Stage
- G: "If you could wave a magic wand, what would the ideal outcome look like?"
- G: "How will you know when you've achieved this?"
- R: "What's the biggest obstacle right now?"
- R: "What have you already tried?"
- O: "If you had no constraints, what would you do?"
- O: "What's one thing you haven't tried yet?"
- W: "On a scale of 1-10, how committed are you?"
- W: "What might get in the way, and how will you handle it?"
2 Active Listening Framework
The HEAR Model — Active Listening Guide
Framework8 Pages
A structured listening framework for coaching conversations. Most people listen to respond, not to understand. HEAR changes that.
HHALT — Stop what you're doing. Give full attention. Close laptop. Put phone away. Make eye contact.
EEMPATHIZE — Try to understand their perspective. Notice emotions, not just words. "I can see this is frustrating for you."
AANTICIPATE — Don't plan your response while they're talking. Stay present. Let silence do its work.
RREPLAY — Reflect back what you heard. "What I'm hearing is..." Confirm understanding before moving on.

Question Bank10 Pages
Categorized collection of powerful coaching questions. Not advice-giving — these questions help coachees discover their own solutions.
Sample Categories
- Awareness: "What do you notice about yourself when that happens?"
- Perspective: "If your best friend were in this situation, what would you tell them?"
- Action: "What's the smallest step you could take today?"
- Accountability: "What would make this non-negotiable for you?"
- Values: "How does this align with what matters most to you?"
- Courage: "What are you avoiding, and what would happen if you faced it?"
The Golden Rule of Coaching: Resist the urge to give advice. Your job is to ask the right questions, create the space for thinking, and trust that the coachee has the answers within them. The moment you say "What you should do is..." — you've shifted from coaching to consulting.
